Genau genommen hat die nächste Platte auch nicht in dieser Sendung zu suchen. Die neue CD von Peter Gabriel. Die Platte wird “Us” heißen. Neben allem Flamenco sticht die CD des Jahres heraus. Schon Anfang des Jahres weiss Bangs, dass es keine bessere in diesem Jahr mehr geben wird: “Gar keine Frage; aber für mich die Platte des Jahres: “Triage” von David Bearwald. Die Platte kam bereits im Januar ‘93 heraus. Ich hab’s damals mehrmals vorgespielt, vorgestellt und hab’ gesagt, ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, daß es in diesem Jahr eine bessere Platte geben wird. Und ich bleib’ dabei!” (AB am 25.12.93)
=> Ich hab in den letzten Wochen mehrere Ausschnitte aus der LP von David Bearwald gespielt. Genauer gesagt 5 von 10 Songs. Ich finde die Platte aber gut und hab damals, als ich sie zum ersten Mal vorstellte, gesagt: ‘Es gibt wirklich kein schlechtes Stück auf dieser Platte’. Und deswegen bin ich der Meinung, ich sollte weiterhin Musik aus dieser LP spielen. Kommen wir also zu einem Stück mit dem Titel ‘The postman’. David Baerwald hat selbst folgendes über dieses Stück gesagt: ”Wo ich wohne” - und er wohnt natürlich in Los Angeles - “fast 24 Stunden am Tag hört man Hubschrauben. Man kann nachts nicht schlafen und dann überlegt man, in was für ‘ner Umgebung wohnt man eigentlich überhaupt. Es gibt Zensur, es gibt Lügen, es gibt Verhaftungen, es wird gemordet, es gibt überall disinformation”, wie er das nennt. Und dann erzählt er, dass es bestimmte komische Geschichten gibt, wie z.B. damals den Massenselbstmord in Johnestown, was angeblich ein Experiment des CIA war und wenn man dann auch weiter überlegt, was zur Zeit in Waco, in Texas, passiert, kann man diese Art von Denken, von David Baerwald auf jeden Fall, verfolgen. Er sagt weiter dazu: “Ich bin meistens tagsüber so sauer, daß ich kaum atmen kann. Nachts bin ich meistens traurig und dazu auch hab’ ich Angst also liege ich zuhause nachts wach und ich höre, wie draußen geschrieen und geschossen wird. Und ich beobachte dabei die Hubschrauber der Polizei, die über alles schweben. Was kann ich zu der Zeit sonst machen, als ein kleines dummes Lied zu singen: A lullaby.” David Baerwald also und ‘The postman’.<= (AB 6.3.93 vor ‘The Postman’)
Ein brutal gutes Lied! Hört euch die Original CD an, der Sound ist wesentlich besser als vom tape gefiltert!
